• The students identity card/the record books or the university identity cards should be produced to the security personal at the entrance whenever the reader enters to the Library, for  circulation and other  transaction  and whenever the reader been requested to produce the identification.
  • Strict silence should be maintained inside as well as outside premises of the Library except in the discussion areas.
  • No brief cases, suitcases, food, umbrellas, rain coats, bags, file covers, personal books, books borrowed from other libraries, ink bottles& wells and animal species should be brought into the Library. The cloak room could be used for keeping such.
  • Readers are not allowed to enter parts of the Library which are not open to them.
  • Uses of matches or lighters,scissors, blades, smoking, consumption of food or drink and group discussions in reading areas are not allowed.
  • Readers leaving the Library must show the study material in possession and borrowed items from the Library to the security personal.
  • Non members and visitors are required to obtain permission from the senior Assistant Librarian before entering the Library.
  • Suspended students are required to return the library item borrowed as soon as they are suspended and no permission given to use the library during suspended period.
  • Seats in the Library may not be reserved by anyone.
  • The Library material and furniture should not be moved from one section to another section.
  • Readers may remove items from the shelves, but they have no permission to reshelf the items. Referred materials should be left on tables.
  • A borrower is responsible for a book as long as borrower’s record in the Library Management System is uncancelled.  The Borrower is never expected to pass the borrowed items to another reader.
  • In the process of searching books in the shelves, in the catalogue or in the electronic database, the Library staff should be consulted in the event of any failure.
  • The Library may not accept any telephone correspondences other than library matters on behalf of readers or visitors.
  • Marking on the Library items, damaging or detaching any part of them, erasing library gestures and ownership marks, removing labels, pockets etc., tracing of maps, illustrations etc. are forbidden.
  • Readers are required to examine the items to be borrowed and report any damage, unnecessary marks, drawings and writings, and missing pages if any to the counter. In the absence of such report the issued items are presumed to be in good condition and the borrower is responsible for the condition of the book at the time of returning.
  • The Library staff is authorized to clear tables and chairs where personal belongings left for unreasonable period of time.
  • Hand phones should be kept switched off in the library.
  • Any improper conduct or breach of regulation may render the reader answer the disciplinary procedure of the University of Peraderniya
