The Veterinary Library is a member of the Library Network of University of Peradeniya. Teaching staff and the students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences were served by the Agriculture Library up to 1973. Thereafter, Medical Library provided the service. The Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science Library was established in its present location in the Faculty in June 1994, to house the collection of books and periodicals in Veterinary Medicine which were transferred from the Medical Library. Refurbishment of the present Library was completed in 2005. Fully Automated Library system was introduced in 2007.
At present, the library possesses a comprehensive collection of Library materials required for teaching and research activities of the Faculty. The library collection in 2010 was comprised of more than 6000 books and bound of periodicals. The Audio Visual Unit of the Library contains CDs,VCDs,Videos etc. and there are 13 titles of current Periodicals and 79 titles of Bound Periodicals in the Library. The building capacity for shelving, reference, counter, and staff working areas etc. amounts to 5985 Sq.Ft. and seating accommodation is provided for 109 library users.
