The 6th Annual Research and Achievers Colloquium of University
Librarians Association will be held at the Auditorium of the
Postgraduate Complex of the Faculty of Arts, University of
Peradeniya on 23rd of March 2012
University Librarians’ Association of Sri Lanka
Dr. P. Wijetunga, Librarian of University of Peradeniya was elected as the President of the University Librarians’ Association at the 30th Annual General Meeting held on 16th September 2011, at South Eastern University. This is her second term in this post. Mr. R. Maheswaran, Senior Asst. Librarian/Tamil Division and Mrs. Chamani Gunasekera, Senior Asst Librarian/Reader Services Division of the Main Library were elected as the General Secretary and the Treasurer respectively for 2011/2012.

Trial Access for SAGE databases
Trial access for Sage Journals Online and Sage Research Methods Online (SRMO) were provided for the university during the month of September 2011 and two demonstrations were conducted for the academic staff of the Faculty of Arts on 8th and 19th of September at the Main Library by the Senior Asst. Librarian of the IT Division.

Workshop on Information Literacy Education
A workshop on Information Literacy Education was held at University of Colombo from 18th -20th October 2011with the aim of training University library professionals. Dr. Dan Dorner from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand was the Facilitator of the workshop which was co-facilitated by Dr. (Mrs.) P. Wijetunga, Librarian of University of Peradeniya. Five senior Librarians from University of Peradeniya participated in the workshop.

Indian Art Exhibition –“ Harmony and Rhythm”
An exhibition of paintings by several Indian painters was held on the 27th and 28th Oct 2011 at the Main Library. Prof. S.B.S. Abeyakoon, Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya was the Chief Guest. Assistant High Commissioner of of Assistant High Commission of India in Kandy, Mr. R.K. Misra and several other guests participated in the Opening ceremony.
